Shochoh Trading provides high quality Ethiopian forest, crude, and coffee honey as well as beeswax to the local and export market. We source our honey from our own plantation and from smallholder farmers in and around Bench Sheko Zone where trees produce a delicately flavored floral honey 2500 meters above sea level and traditional beekeeping is strong. Today such natural honey plays vital role as a source of medicine and to improve people health.

Honey from Smallholders
Shochoh Trading sources its honey from smallholder farmers through empowerment and better access to market opportunities that will lead to increase in income and enhanced livelihood. Our team of staffs actively involves, providing the co-operatives with services such as training on converting traditional beekeeping techniques to modern ones, develop market linkages, diversify products and opportunities, and improve both institutional capacity and the provision of financial services, with a particular emphasis on women beekeepers.
Coming from the local farming community, we at Shochoh Trading understands customers’ expectations on our ethical sourcing strategy. Unlike most exporters, we have been a beneficiary a proper and fair sourcing decision of honey and other agricultural products from Bench Sheko Zone. Sourcing from smallholders, in the right way, can also help companies to reach and retain more consumers, generating positive brand or corporate value, and achieving greater corporate sustainability.
Honey from our Plantation
At Shochoh Trading we source honey from our own plantation in Bench Sheko forest area where trees produce a delicately flavored floral honey 2500 meters above sea level and traditional beekeeping is strong. Today such natural honey plays vital role as a source of medicine and to improve people health.
Using traditional and modern keeping honeybees we aim to harvest top quality honey for local and international customers at a fair price. Having our own farm also allow us to produce top quality honey to the quantity we want without relying on unreliable third-party suppliers. Such sourcing strategy of honey will directly or indirectly enhance livelihoods, increase resilience against shocks, and improve food security and nutrition for rural households that are vulnerable to food insecurity in Bench Sheko Zone.
