About Us
Shochoch Trading Plc was founded by two visionary young Ethiopians, Mr. Terefe T. Godi (also known as Mr. Kananace) and Mr. Musse Shibab Babab, who both grew up in smallholder farming families in the Bench Sheko Zone of southwestern Ethiopia. After completing their university education, they established the company with a shared commitment to empowering their community.
Before founding Shochoch Trading Plc, Terefe and Musse gained invaluable experience working for a local farmers’ cooperative union. Terefe served as Export Manager, while Musse took on the role of Logistics Manager, where they developed a deep understanding of the agricultural landscape.
Today, Shochoch Trading Plc employs and engages hundreds of permanent and seasonal workers. We proudly export over 50 containers of coffee annually, with 30 of those certified as organic and Rainforest Alliance compliant, in addition to being verified EUDR compliant. By partnering with over 5,000 smallholder farmers, we aim to increase our export volume to 100 containers.
Our mission is to uplift our community by connecting local farmers to global markets, fostering sustainable agricultural practices, and celebrating the rich heritage of Ethiopian agriculture. We prioritize the highest standards of environmental and social responsibility in all our operations.
We offer a diverse range of top-quality agricultural products, including washed and natural green coffee beans for global importers, as well as spices such as cardamom (whole pods and hulled beans), turmeric, ginger (fresh and dried), long pepper (Timiz), passion bay (Rue), black pepper, and various herbs. Additionally, we export fruits like bananas and avocados to our international market destinations.
Our approach utilizes vertical integration marketing, enabling us to directly source some of the world’s finest coffees from our outgrower member smallholder farmers. We also cultivate our own large plantation in the Bench Sheko Zone, ensuring quality from farm to cup.
